Service opportunities in SonLight City Children’s Ministry

Children’s Bible Study Teachers and Helpers

  • Enjoy children and have a desire to guide them through learning the Bible.
  • Serve on Sunday mornings throughout the school year,
  • September through May.

Children’s Bible Study Teachers-Summer Session

  • Enjoy children and have a desire to guide them through learning the Bible,
  • Serve for three to four weeks in the summer rather making the school year commitment.

Children’s Bible Study-Coaches

  • Enjoy working with adult teachers of children in Children’s Bible Study by supporting, encouraging and assisting with whatever needs they may have.
  • Assist the Children’s Bible Study Director in all the organizational details needed, including recruiting volunteers for a particular age group.
  • Serve year round on Sunday Mornings and must be available for bi-monthly meetings during the week.

Children’s Worship Assistants

  • Assist Children’s Worship Director in a variety of roles—drama/skits, object lessons, puppets, games, and more.
  • Serve on Sunday Mornings throughout the year with flexibility.
  • Rehearsals on Wednesday evenings.

TeamKID Leaders

  • Enjoy first and second grade children and desire to disciple children through play and recreation.
  • Serve Wednesday evenings throughout the school year, September through May.

Basic Training Leaders

  • May serve in a variety of different roles as children in 3rd-5th grades rotate through three 20-minutes sessions. Roles include: teaching, leading in Scripture memory and leading recreational games.
  • Serve Wednesday evenings throughout the school year, September though May.

Camp Counselors

  • Lead a small group of children through an overnight week of fun activities and sometimes serious discussions at camp.
  • Serve one week in the summer

Children’s Greeters

  • Welcome and assist children and their families during the Bible Study and Children’s Worship hours on Sunday Mornings.
  • Serve as scheduled.

Chaperones-Summer Activities

  • Enjoy playing with children and genuinely care about them. Also enjoy children’s activities such as water parks, caving, overnight camping, etc.
  • This person must have a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Serve at various times during the summer.

 

No Parking Zone (NPZ) Leaders

  • Enjoy playing with children, including activities such as basketball, kickball, rollerblading, jump rope, face painting and more.
  • Help the children broaden their network of friends to strengthen their sense of belonging at SonLight City.
  • Serve Wednesday evenings throughout the summer. June-August

Resource Room Volunteers

  • Enjoy organizing and maintaining children’s supplies and resources.
  • Serve one-three hours per week

  • Variety of opportunities available. Collecting and sorting candy, staffing the game areas, running a game, getting donations, decorating, setting up, tearing down, making balloon animals and more.

Resource Center Coordinator

  • Oversee volunteers in the Resource Center
  • Greet, assist and check out customers.

  • Oversee snack team volunteers
  • Oversee set-up and clean up of snack area before and after each break

Registration Coordinator

  • Oversee volunteers at registration
  • Work with Rrgistration Solutions to ensure proper registration of each guest.
  • Assist in name badge assembly
  • Oversee the check-in of each Summit guest
  • Training provided

Registration Solution Coordinator

  • Oversee volunteers in Registration Solution
  • Provide assistance to guest who need adjustments made to their name badges
  • Assist guest who are not pre-registered

Service Opportunties in Chapel Praise

Chapel Praise Choir Members

  • Choir sings every Sunday in the Chapel at 9:15 a.m.
  • Rehearsals are Wednesday night 6:30 – 8 p.m. in the Orchestra room behind the main Worship Center.
  • No audition required.

Chapel Praise Band Members

  • The band plays in Chapel Praise on a scheduled basis for Sunday morning worship at 9:15 a.m.
  • Rehearsal is usually at 8 a.m. on the day of scheduled service.

Chapel Praise Sound and Media Team Members

  • Set up and run the sound and media system for Chapel Praise on Sundays.
  • Set up begins at 8 a.m. each Sunday for a 9:15 a.m. service.
  • Break down of equipment after each service.
  • Previous experience running sound systems is important.
  • Serve on a rotation as part of the sound and media team.

Chapel Praise Power Point Operators

  • Run the power point slide show in Chapel Praise on Sundays.
  • Arrive by 8:30 a.m. each Sunday for rehearsal.
  • No experience required. Training provided.
  • Sign up to serve on a rotation as part of the media team.

Chapel Praise Set-Up

  • Assist with praise banners for the service, assembling music notebooks and other set-up duties.
  • Serve before and after the Chapel Praise service each Sunday.

Fusion Leaders

  • Commit to attending Fusion each Wednesday evening to love, encourage, and support students
  • Provide stability, sound leadership, and a foundation of prayer for the youth staff and ministry as a whole.
  • Serve 2-3 hours weekly, on Wednesdays

Access Leaders

  • Commit to walking life with students and making disciples by engaging the same group of students each Sunday morning
  • Discuss life application of the lesson and praying together.
  • Ongoing communication and discipleship is highly encouraged.
  • Serve 3-4 hours weekly, on Sundays.

Leaders for Special Events

  • Serve by cooking, driving, praying, hosting groups in your home, etc.
  • Commitment time varies.

Service Opportunities in Adult Ministry

Teachers of Adult Bible Study Class

  • Prepare and lead interactive Bible Study sessions that are discussion driven and focused on teaching people how to apply God’s Word to life.
  • Serve one and a half hours on Sundays, plus preparation time during the week.

Coordinators of Adult Bible Study Class

  • Create an infrastructure in a class for care, community and outreach, thus relieving the teacher of administrative responsibilities.
  • Serve one and a half hours on Sundays, plus some time during the week

Home Group Hosts

  • Host a group of 4-14 adults in your home for a time of eating, Bible Study, and prayer
  • Serve two hours a time, plus preparation time

Home Group Coaches

  • Encourage home group hosts with emails, phone calls and visits
  • Serve two hours a week

Program Creators for HDMen

  • Create an activity, study or service project on one of our HD channels: Action, Quest or Impact.
  • Serve as much or as little as your program requires.

Service Opportunities with First Impressions Ministry Teams

The First Impressions Ministry Teams are designed to present a positive and pleasing experience for our guests and members at The People’s Church. Our goal is to offer a prompt and warm welcome to everyone. We strive to provide assistance and answers to questions regarding our ministries and to help guests get connected in a Bible study class and/or worship.

Parking Ministry Team Members

  • Ensure safety and provide assistance.
  • Direct the traffic flow on our lot and answer questions about entrances, schedules, special parking, welcome centers and classes.
  • Serve in our very first touchpoint on Sunday, providing a warm smile
  • Should be someone who loves being outside, loves helping people and a keen eye
  • Serves 20 minutes before and after worship; vests, flags, rain gear and radios provided

Greeters Ministry Team Members

  • Make everyone feel comfortable and welcomed. Offer a smile, hand shake and greeting to each person that enters the building.
  • Make it easy for guests to fit in.
  • Assist people with multiple children or those carrying things, provide an umbrella if needed, and escort people to the Welcome Centers for class information or to the Worship Center.
  • Should be someone who is outgoing and friendly.
  • Serve 20 minutes prior to worship, name tag provided.

Guest Information/Welcome Center Ministry Team Members

  • Help put guests at ease by letting them know their presence is wanted and appreciated.
  • Provide information about all the ministry areas, schedules, classes, topics and events. Help people experience large group worship and connect into a nurturing small group.
  • Should be a warm, friendly person who is comfortable sharing updated information with a guest or attender. Should be prepared for questions and should be completely knowledgeable about The People’s Church and our Web site.
  • Serve 20 minutes prior to worship, name tag provided.

Pathfinders Ministry Team Members

  • Walk families to each of their Bible Study classes, taking the youngest child first.
  • Assure parents of our security policies and loving teachers. After walking each child to class, make sure the adults are introduced to a small group member or Worship Host.
  • Befriend and make guests feel welcome and at home.
  • Should be familiar with the building and able to walk up the stairs and the length of the building easily.
  • Should also have a friendly and compassionate spirit.
  • Serve 20 minutes prior to worship, name tag and map provided.

Global/Local Impact Journey Leaders

  • Help prepare and then lead a Global or Local Impact Journey Team.
  • Serve 10 hours for team preparation, plus the length of the journey.

Strategic Partnership Team Members

  • Impact a nation by being a a member on the Southeast Asia Tsunami Redevelopment, Southeast Asia Education Initiative, Balkans Leadership/Business Development, Origins Rome Church Planting, or Ukraine Orphan/Medical Outreach Strategic Partnership Teams.
  • Time involvement varies.

Debrief Impact Journey Team Members

  • Receive training and then debrief returning Impact Journey teams to increase the value of their journey experience.
  • Serve 5 hours of training and 7 hours per team.

Discovery Class 4 Vision Team Members

  • Help present a learning experience through the “Discovering My Life Mission” Discovery Class that motivates and increases our heart for the world.
  • Serve 2-3 hours a month

Communication Gurus

  • Help us find effective channels which inform and encourage individuals and groups to engage on personal, local and global levels.
  • Serve through lots of thought time, with very little meeting time.

Film Directors

  • Produce powerpoints/videos for use on Impact360 mobile display.
  • Serve around 3 hours a month

Ghost Writers for Impact360 Story Blog

  • Interview individuals and Impact Journey Teams and write brief personal, local or global stories.
  • Time commitment determined by the write

Creative-types for Impact360 Web pages

  • Assist with on-going development and updating of outreach information.
  • Serve 1-2 hours monthly

  • Help keep the peace in a baby room by strolling fussy children.
